Please note that you will also need to apply to the school itself. More information is available at gobama.ua.edu for undergraduate admissions and at graduate.ua.edu for graduate admissions.

What is the difference between a BA and a BFA degree?

Students pursuing BFA degrees will need 8-12 additional credit hours of required coursework to graduate. While some classes are required for BFA students, they are open to BA students as electives. Opting for the BFA also limits a student’s ability to take on an additional major and graduate in four years.

Ultimately, both the BA and the BFA are housed in the same department and the classes are taught by the same faculty members. Both degrees are held to the same academic and artistic standards and rigor, and both degrees prepare graduates for competitive professional work.
