American Ballet Theatre (ABT) Summer Intensive

In 1997, The University of Alabama was chosen by American Ballet Theatre for the first American Ballet Theatre Summer Intensive ever to be held outside of New York or in partnership with a university.

The ABT Summer Intensive offers top quality teachers and master guest teachers that are dedicated to the learning process and growth of each individual student. The program focuses on developing well-rounded dancers by exposure to a wide variety of disciplines with an emphasis on classical ballet technique and key elements of ABT’s National Training Curriculum. Participants are selected for the Intensive through a nationwide audition tour.

These productions help teach UA students how to be self-sufficient artists during their undergraduate or graduate studies. Learn more on the Crimson Stage website.
