About Us

High School Theatre Festival

Since 2014, UA Theatre and Dance’s High School Theatre Festival has opened the door for students in grades 7 through 12 to the next step in their theatre training. Throughout the day, students have the opportunity to attend workshops led by UA Theatre and Dance faculty, featuring many theatre disciplines (performance, technical theatre, stage management, etc.). Additionally, attendees have the chance to explore campus, watch performances by current students, and meet the many performing arts organizations here at The University of Alabama. Lunch is provided, along with snacks throughout the day.

Workshops at past festivals have included:

  • The 16-Bar Cut: An Intro to Musical Theatre Auditions
  • Break it Down: A Monologue Workshop
  • Shakespeare’s Ages of Man: Acting NOT Your Age
  • Combo To-Go: Musical Theatre Dance
  • Pen on Paper: An Intro to Playwriting
