Costume design and production includes general and advanced courses in costume design, history, construction and crafts. The program will meet individual interests and provide the knowledge and experience to transition into professional careers.
Students participate in an intensive sequence of academic, design and production experiences. Coursework and production assignments provide training in period patterning, tailoring, millinery, craftwork, dyeing and other fabric manipulation. Students have opportunities for a variety of practical experiences, including designing for dance and theatre productions. Other possibilities include being a designer’s assistant, makeup designer, hair stylist, craftsperson, cutter/draper or milliner on a given production.
Admission to the program and assistantships are awarded based upon a portfolio review, interview and acceptance into The University of Alabama Graduate School. For more information, please contact Donna Meester, Director of Costume Design and Production at firstname.lastname@example.org.
